Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are these badges about?

A badge is a symbol or indicator of an accomplishment, skill, competency, or interest. The badges can represent achievements and skills, and communicate successes.

Learning can happen anywhere, in schools and also online. Badges provide a digital proof that this learning has taken place.

Upon completion of one of the Choose Safety programmes, a Digital Badge is awarded to you in recognition of your increased understanding of health and safety at work.

These are digital badges which you can use on your website, CV or collect in an on-line Open Badge Backpack.

How do I earn a badge for the Choose Safety learning?

When you complete any of six HSA Choose Safety units or complete any of the four HSA Choose Safety learning programmes you will earn a digital badge. Your teacher will submit your details to this site https://badges.hsalearning.ie and the site will email you a link to claim your badge.

What can I do with digital badges?

You can collect the badges you earn in your own online backpack so that you can show and share them with your teachers, parents, potential employers and friends. This allows you to store numerous badges from different sources and more easily share them.

How do I create a Backpack?

To create your own backpack, all you need to do is to visit the Badgr Backpack website and sign up. You will need to use your email address and create a password for the backpack site.

You can now collect badges from a number of sources including the https://badges.hsalearning.ie website. For example, if you are interested in making webpages you can check out the Badgr BadgeRank site to earn more badges.
